About M.Sc. Environmental Science
Jamia Millia Islamia offers M.Sc. Environmental Science and Management through its Department of Environmental Science. The programme runs over four semesters in regular and self-finance categories. Eligibility, seats, the test pattern and dates for 2027–28 will be in the new JMI prospectus.
Environmental science is interdisciplinary. The entrance draws on ecology, life sciences, environmental chemistry, earth and atmospheric science, pollution, natural resources, biodiversity, microbiology and biotechnology, along with applied areas such as waste management, environmental impact assessment and environmental law.
Students from environmental science, life sciences, botany, zoology, chemistry, geology, geography and allied backgrounds take this route. Each group has gaps to fill: chemistry graduates usually need ecology and biology, while life-science graduates need environmental chemistry and earth science.
