PG Diploma in Translation Proficiency in English Entrance Coaching
Preparation for the Department of English's part-time, two-semester PG Diploma in Translation Proficiency in English at JMI.
About PG Diploma in Translation Proficiency in English
Translation is the skilled transfer of meaning between languages, whether in literature, government documents, journalism, business or subtitling. It demands command of both languages and an understanding of context, tone and register.
JMI's Department of English offers a P.G. Diploma in Translation Proficiency in English as a self-financed, part-time programme of two semesters. The 2026–27 prospectus lists 35 seats.
Because it is part-time, the diploma is a practical option for working graduates, teachers and content professionals who want a formal qualification in translation alongside their current work.

How admission works
JMI's 2026–27 prospectus states that admission to its programmes is made on merit determined by an entrance test conducted by JMI, followed wherever applicable by an interview and/or other components. Expect your written English and translation ability to be tested directly.
JMI's prospectus notes that candidates scoring less than 30% in the descriptive part of an entrance test, wherever applicable, are not shortlisted, so practise full written answers.
