About JMI M.A. Sociology
M.A. Sociology at Jamia Millia Islamia is offered by the Department of Sociology. Admission is through JMI’s own entrance test, which in 2026–27 carried programme code M12.

Who can apply
For 2026–27: Under the earlier system: B.A. (Hons.) Sociology with at least 50%; or B.A. with Sociology with at least 55%; or B.A./B.Com./B.Sc. in other disciplines with at least 60%. Under NEP 2020 four-year degrees, JMI sets CGPA cut-offs (5.5 to 7.0) depending on whether Sociology was studied as honours, major or minor. Final-year students should check the prospectus for rules on appearing candidates.
