Jamia Millia Islamia's advanced diplomas build on earlier study of a language or, in one case, on a master's in psychology. This page lists the programmes, explains how JMI admits to them and links to our programme guides.
About JMI advanced diplomas
An advanced diploma at JMI is the third step in a ladder that runs certificate, diploma, advanced diploma. Most are part-time programmes of one year, taught by the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Arabic and the Department of Persian, which is why many students take them alongside a degree.
The exception is the Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (A12), a two-semester, self-financed, RCI-approved programme of the Department of Psychology for candidates who already hold a relevant master's degree.
Because each programme has its own eligibility and admission route, there is no single 'JMI advanced diploma entrance'. Identify your programme code first, then prepare for the test or CUET paper attached to that code.

How JMI admits to advanced diplomas
JMI's general rule is admission on merit in its own entrance test, but programmes on the university's CUET list are filled through CUET scores instead. The advanced diplomas have moved between the two. In 2025–26 Turkish, French and Pashto were filled through CUET, while Italian, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, Modern Arabic and Modern Persian had JMI tests. In 2026–27 Russian had a JMI test, while Turkish and Portuguese were listed under CUET.
Eligibility also differs. For 2026–27 the foreign-language advanced diplomas asked for 10+2 with at least 45% in the best five papers plus a diploma in the same language; Modern Arabic asked for a year of a bachelor's programme with Arabic, or a one-year Diploma in Arabic, with 50% in the subject; and Child Guidance and Counselling asked for a master's in Psychology, Applied Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Early Childhood with 55%.

Preparing for an advanced diploma entrance
For a language programme, the test is pitched at the level of the diploma you have already completed: grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, translation and short writing in that language. Revising your diploma course material thoroughly is the most useful single step.
For A12 the base is postgraduate psychology, with particular weight on developmental psychology, child development and counselling. At Meer Sir Academy we plan each student's preparation around the code they are applying for, with practice questions and timed tests.

How many advanced diplomas does JMI offer?
JMI's programme directory lists 11 advanced diplomas. The 2026–27 prospectus carried nine of them, with codes A01–A07, A10 and A12.
Is there one common entrance test for JMI advanced diplomas?
No. Each programme has its own admission route, a JMI entrance test for some and CUET for others, and the route can change from year to year.
Can I join a language advanced diploma straight after Class 12?
Usually not. In 2026–27 the foreign-language advanced diplomas required a diploma in the same language in addition to 10+2.
Which advanced diploma is meant for psychology postgraduates?
The Advanced Diploma in Child Guidance and Counselling (A12) of the Department of Psychology, a two-semester, self-financed, RCI-approved programme.
