UGC-NET December 2026: Online Registration Open
Meer Sir Academy informs UGC-NET aspirants that the online application portal for the December 2026 examination is now open.
UGC-NET determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D., according to the qualifying category. The examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode for 87 subjects.

UGC NET, JRF and SET preparation at Meer Sir Academy
The UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) decides eligibility for Assistant Professor posts, the award of the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and admission to Ph.D. programmes in Indian universities. State Eligibility Tests (SET/SLET) do the same for Assistant Professor posts within a state.
Our programme prepares you for both papers together: a strong Paper 1 foundation in teaching and research aptitude, subject-wise Paper 2 classes, regular mock tests and one-to-one guidance. It is led by Dr. Mohd. Iqbal Mir (Ph.D., IASE, Jamia Millia Islamia; M.Ed.; UGC-NET) in Education and Sociology.

UGC NET exam pattern

Computer-based test with objective (MCQ) questions, 2 marks each and no negative marking. Based on the marks, candidates qualify in one of three categories: JRF + Assistant Professor + Ph.D. admission; Assistant Professor + Ph.D. admission; or Ph.D. admission only. Who can apply for UGC NET
Educational qualification
A master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (50% for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD and third-gender candidates). Final-year master’s students can also apply, as permitted by the notification.
Age limit
No upper age limit for Assistant Professor or Ph.D. admission. JRF has an upper age limit (30 years in the June 2026 notification), with relaxations for eligible categories.
Paper 1 syllabus: teaching and research aptitude
Paper 1 has ten units with about five questions from each. A well-prepared Paper 1 lifts your total score and often decides JRF.

State Eligibility Test (SET/SLET) preparation
SETs follow a similar two-paper structure, but the conducting body, subjects, language options and qualifying rules vary by state. We prepare you for Paper 1 and your subject paper and adjust practice to the pattern of your state’s test. Always check the latest notification of the SET you are applying for.

UGC NET/JRF coaching fee
UGC NET/JRF coaching fee: Paper 1 – ₹8,000 online, ₹12,000 offline, ₹7,000 weekend, ₹8,000 crash course. Paper 2 – ₹10,000 online, ₹15,000 offline, ₹10,000 weekend, ₹10,000 crash course.

UGC NET/JRF coaching: common questions
What is the difference between NET and JRF?
Both come from the same UGC NET exam. Candidates who qualify for Assistant Professor are “NET qualified”. Top scorers within the JRF age limit are also awarded the Junior Research Fellowship, which funds Ph.D. research.
Is there negative marking in UGC NET?
No. Each question carries 2 marks and there is no negative marking, so you should attempt every question.
Can I prepare for Paper 1 and Paper 2 together?
Yes. Our programme runs both papers in parallel. You can also join Paper 1 or Paper 2 separately.
Which subjects do you teach for Paper 2?
Education, Sociology, Political Science, Psychology, Commerce, Management, English, History, Economics and Social Work, depending on faculty and batch availability.
