About B.A. (Hons) Islamic Studies
B.A. (Hons) Islamic Studies is an interdisciplinary undergraduate programme on the academic study of Islam, Muslim societies, history, culture and intellectual traditions.
At JMI the programme is run by the Department of Islamic Studies. Its coverage includes Islamic history and culture, Indian religion and culture, Islam in India, Muslims in Spain, Muslim educational and reform movements, fine arts, religious sciences, Muslim sects and Islamic thought.
This makes the course much broader than the study of religious practice alone, and the entrance preparation reflects that breadth.
Who can apply
Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent with not less than 45% marks in aggregate or 50% marks in the subject concerned (JMI 2026–27 admission schedule). Confirm the final conditions in the 2027–28 prospectus.

AMU and CUET (UG)
AMU B.A. (Hons) Islamic Studies
AMU offers Islamic Studies as a major (code ISBOA, 8 semesters) under its B.A. (Hons) programme. There is no separate Islamic Studies paper: candidates take the combined B.A. test of English (25), Indo-Islamic Culture & Aligarh Movement (25) and General Aptitude (50). Basic eligibility is 10+2 with 50% aggregate, or specified recognised Madrasa/Sanad/Bridge Course qualifications under AMU rules.
CUET (UG)
CUET has no standalone Islamic Studies domain paper. A participating university prescribes its own combination; for example, the current CUET mapping for Jamia Hamdard's B.A. (Hons) Islamic Studies is Urdu language plus the General Aptitude Test. Check the target university's requirement.

What is the JMI B.A. (Hons) Islamic Studies programme code?
The current JMI programme code is B33. The programme is offered by the Department of Islamic Studies.
What is the duration and intake of JMI B.A. Islamic Studies?
It is an 8-semester programme, and the JMI 2026–27 prospectus lists 60 seats.
What is the eligibility for JMI B.A. Islamic Studies?
For 2026–27 JMI required 10+2 or equivalent with at least 45% aggregate marks or 50% in the subject concerned. Check the 2027–28 prospectus when it is released.
Is JMI B.A. Islamic Studies admission through CUET?
No. In 2026–27 admission to B33 was through JMI's own entrance test.
What is the AMU entrance pattern for B.A. Islamic Studies?
AMU uses its combined B.A. (Hons) test: English 25 marks, Indo-Islamic Culture & Aligarh Movement 25 marks and General Aptitude 50 marks.
Does CUET have an Islamic Studies paper?
