About B.A. (Hons) Arabic
B.A. (Hons) Arabic develops advanced knowledge of the Arabic language, grammar, translation, literature and culture. Depending on the university, students study Arabic prose and poetry, composition, classical, medieval, modern and Indo-Arabic literature, and Arabic–English translation.
JMI offers the programme through its Department of Arabic. For 2026–27 it conducted a separate entrance examination for B.A. (Hons) Arabic, so aspirants should prepare for the JMI pattern specifically, alongside general knowledge and current affairs, and check the new prospectus when released.
Who can apply
JMI's 2026–27 admission information allows several routes: a Senior Secondary School Certificate with Arabic as one of the subjects; an Arabic Madrasa qualification recognised by JMI as equivalent to 10+2; or a Senior Secondary qualification with a recognised Arabic diploma of at least two semesters or one year, subject to the prescribed marks and conditions. Check the 2027–28 prospectus before applying.

AMU and CUET (UG)
AMU B.A. Arabic
AMU's Department of Arabic offers a four-year, eight-semester B.A. Arabic FYUP covering Indo-Arabic, modern, classical and medieval Arabic literature, grammar and translation. B01 is a JMI code only; follow the admission route in AMU's official guide for the session.
CUET (UG)
No single CUET combination applies to B.A. Arabic everywhere. The official CUET (UG) 2026 syllabus list does not show Arabic as a language paper, so check the 2027 subject list and each university's programme-specific requirements before choosing papers.

The latest JMI admission information lists B01 for B.A. (Hons) Arabic.
Is JMI B.A. Arabic admission through CUET?
No. Under the 2026–27 structure, JMI conducted its own entrance examination for B01. Check the 2027–28 prospectus for any change.
Is Arabic in Class 12 required for JMI B.A. Arabic?
It is one of several routes. Others include a recognised Arabic Madrasa qualification, or Senior Secondary plus a recognised Arabic diploma, subject to JMI's conditions.
What should I prepare for the JMI B.A. Arabic entrance?
Arabic grammar, vocabulary, translation, comprehension and literary awareness, along with the general-awareness components of the entrance examination.
Is the JMI and AMU B.A. Arabic entrance pattern the same?
No. JMI and AMU set their own admission requirements, so prepare a common Arabic foundation and then practise for each university separately.
Is Arabic available as a CUET language paper?
The official CUET (UG) 2026 syllabus list does not include Arabic as a separate language paper. Check the 2027 CUET subject list when it is released.
