The 2026–27 selection process used an objective departmental test of 100 marks containing 100 MCQs, with a combined test for M.A. Political Science, Public Administration, Human Rights and International Politics. These details are useful for preparation planning but must not be assumed unchanged for 2027–28.

For JMI’s International and Area Studies programme, additional attention should be given to Area Studies and regional politics.

For AMU International Politics, additional emphasis should be placed on Strategic, Security and Peace Studies.

For CUET PG Political Science, preparation should remain closely aligned with the officially prescribed HUQP18 Political Science syllabus.

How to Prepare for M.A. Politics & International Studies Entrance 2027

Start by developing conceptual clarity rather than memorising isolated facts.

Study Political Theory and Political Thought first because these provide the conceptual foundation for Political Science.

Next, cover International Relations theories and basic concepts such as power, national interest, balance of power, collective security, diplomacy, deterrence and globalisation.

After this, study Indian Foreign Policy, International Organisations and regional politics.

Maintain separate notes for current international affairs.

Practise MCQs regularly and revise factual areas repeatedly.

Attempt topic-wise tests before moving to full-length mock tests.

Analyse incorrect answers after every mock test.

For JMI preparation, devote additional time to international and regional developments because the programme itself has a strong International and Area Studies orientation.
