About B.Lib.I.Sc. (Library & Information Science)
B.Lib.I.Sc. (Bachelor of Library and Information Science) is a professional programme for managing libraries, information centres, digital resources and documentation services. It covers library management, classification, cataloguing, information sources, reference services, library automation, digital libraries and information retrieval.
It is not a Class XII-entry programme at JMI or AMU: both require a bachelor's degree. At JMI the one-year, self-financed programme is associated with Dr. Zakir Husain Library, and for 2026–27 JMI conducted its own entrance test.

AMU's latest test has 100 multiple-choice questions for 100 marks. JMI does not publish a section-wise split, so prepare the same areas for JMI using its syllabus and previous papers.
Who can apply
JMI (B13): B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. or M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. with at least 50% marks in aggregate, or the same degrees with 45% in aggregate plus five years of specified work experience in a university, college, centre or state library. Confirm the final conditions in the 2027–28 prospectus.

AMU B.Lib.I.Sc.
AMU offers B.Lib.I.Sc. (course code LBBOA) through its Department of Library and Information Science: 2 semesters, 60 + 5 self-financed seats, selection by admission test. Eligibility is B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.Th./B.S.W. or equivalent with 50%, or 45% with at least 50% in a master's degree; an age condition also applies.
CUET (UG)
There is no single CUET rule for Library and Information Science. Some participating universities have used the General Test/General Aptitude route, while others set different papers and eligibility, so check each university's requirements.
