Overview

About B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics

B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics develops advanced knowledge of pure and applied mathematics, along with mathematical reasoning, abstraction, logical analysis and modelling. University study typically covers calculus, algebra, real analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, probability, statistics and numerical methods.

At JMI the programme is offered by the Department of Mathematics as an 8-semester regular programme. Do not confuse it with B.Sc. (Hons) Applied Mathematics (B66), which used CUET for 2026–27; the two programmes have different admission routes.

Other admission routes

AMU and CUET (UG)

AMU B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics

AMU admits through a Combined Admission Test for B.Sc. (Hons) in the Faculties of Science and Life Sciences: English, Chemistry and Physics (25 marks each) plus Mathematics or Biology (25 marks), 100 marks in all. A Mathematics major requires Mathematics at the qualifying examination, so AMU aspirants also prepare Physics, Chemistry and English.

CUET (UG)

Participating universities use the CUET domain paper Mathematics/Applied Mathematics (319). CUET conducts the test, but each university sets its own eligibility and subject combination, so check every target university's rules.
